Committees are what keeps an association going. They organise most of the activities and in doing so they make sure that the members stay closely involved with the association. Each committee has a different goal; where one is busy with activities that are career-related, another will focus on activities that are meant to create a stronger bond between members. Together they form the executive force of a young and growing association.

ATP
ATP officially stands for Adenosine triphosphate. For us, it symbolizes action, energy and fun. ATP is the activities committee of S.V.N.B. Hooke. Our committee ensures that our members integrate with each other in a non-study related setting. In this way, all the nanobiologists get to know each other after long lab days and tough study sessions. We do this by organising various activities, such as pub crawls, sports activities and movie nights.
We also provide the most exciting time of the year: the Dies week. On November 20th, S.V.N.B. Hooke celebrates her birthday and this must be celebrated enthusiastically each year. We will do our extra bests then to organise an awesome week with a fantastic Dies party!

With only a few graduates, being a Nanobiology student can be difficult. Where can you find an internship? Or a job? These newly graduates won’t have a large network yet, and there aren’t many that graduated before them that could help. How should they even start looking for a job, and how should they present themselves during a job interview? This committee was started to help these first batches of Nanobiology students answer all these questions and find the right career path. By organizing activities such as excursions (small ones as well as the multiple-day excursion abroad) and workshops, this committee will try and bring students closer to the field.

It is often said that the grass is greener on the other side. We all know Nanobiology here in Delft and Rotterdam is great, but it can’t hurt to broaden your horizons! At Diffucie, we organize a study trip in which we travel to visit universities, institutes, and companies abroad. On this trip we’ll have the chance to network, explore future possibilities, or even put a pin in and internship! Aside from these opportunities, we’ll also immerse ourselves in a foreign culture and enjoy ourselves in new places. Does this sound like something for you? HOX
As a Nanobiologist, it may be difficult at times to explain to your parents what it is you actually do. That is why a family day is a perfect opportunity to show this and explain what the opportunities are in the future. During this family day, multiple aspects of Nanobiology will be shown as well as what a typical day in the life of a Nanobiology student looks like. We also want to bring the parents in action and let them do practica by themselves.
We also hope that this day will be very educational for the parents and that they will learn a lot about things as different important enzymes. One of the most complex processes in your body is the formation of an embryo. A lot of proteins are used to direct these actions in the cell. One of those proteins are the Hox proteins, they are responsible for the distribution of the different parts of an embryo.
So with the help of the Hox proteins, an embryo will be formed into a baby, and that baby might be a Nanobiologist. That is something a parent could be proud of!

Hello there little kumquats!
We are IntroN 8, the committee who will provide you with an amazing freshman weekend during the summer holidays. Just like IntroNs in DNA, we take our job of promoting the study super seriously and we want to prepare all our future nanobiologists for an epic first year. To accomplish this we will organize lots of activities to introduce our beautiful association and for you to get to know your fellow first years and our nano seniors!
During IntroN you will also form your mentor groups, with whom you will meet up regularly during the rest of the first semester. And you will pick your older-year mentors, who will help you with all the first year struggles and guide you through the first weeks of being a nano.

After the incredible success of last year’s edition, Kinecie is back again this year. We will be organizing both a rally and a member weekend, like never before. During this rally you will be using all your big brain skills to solve a booklet full of puzzles that lead you to the endpoint. This endpoint will also be the location where we will organize a limited-edition member weekend consisting of not one but two nights! Not a limited offer: when you sign up for one night, you get the second night totally for free! Keep the 29th-31st of March empty in your agenda if you want to have a good time. NB: a rally might be an exception for your car insurance, check this beforehand.

mRNA
mRNA is vital. This molecule, a sequence from nothing but four nucleotides, keeps the eukaryotic cell alive by facilitating protein synthesis. Without proteins, the cell would not be alive. In like manner, the society paper mRNA is prerequisite for S.V.N.B. Hooke to become a living, animated study association. mRNA, so to say, transcribes the message that lies in our society’s DNA.
