Mechanisms of tumour progression
Supervisor: Youri Hoogstrate, y.hoogstrate@erasmusmc.nl
Gliomas are malignant primary brain tumours and glioma patients have dismal prognosis. In this key-line of research in our lab, we aim to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of gliomas. This is relevant for patients as tumour malignancy directs treatment and it can identify new targets that ultimately prevent malignant progression.
Techniques
This project adopts bio-informatical approaches on high-throughput multi-omics data. We specialize in using highly curated, clinically well annotated sample cohorts.

Mechanisms of targeted treatment failure
Supervisor: Pim French, p.french@erasmusmc.nl
Gliomas are a type of malignant brain tumours. Glioma patients often have a dismal prognosis. Targeted treatments/precision medicine unfortunately has not provided significant benefit to patients, despite showing target engagement and inhibition. Understanding the reason for the treatment failure is key to the development of novel targeted agents.
Techniques
Molecular and cellular analysis on genes involved in glioma-genesis
