The impact of inflammation on mechanotransduction

Supervisor: Roberto Narcisi, r.narcisi@erasmusmc.nl

Using different cell types, the goal of this project is to increase our understanding of the role of inflammation in the progression of Osteoarthritis, to eventually propose tailored solutions for different patient categories having different joint inflammatory profiles.

Techniques

  • Bioreactors for mechanical loading
  • Cell culture
  • Transcript analisis (such as RT-PCR)
  • Proteomic analysis (such as histology)

The impact of genetic variation in complex diseases

Supervisor: Roberto Narcisi, r.narcisi@erasmusmc.nl

Using the “village on a dish” platform (up to 80 iPSc lines will be cultured), we are going to study the impact of genetic variations commonly present in the general population on basic cellular mechanisms, such ad DNA-damage repair.

Techniques

  • iPS culturing
  • single-cell-RNA-seq data analysis
  • DNA-damage
